Danny I, Miller, Cariaso inspirations in Converge-Blackwater tiff?

Just everyone is still on a high, lifted by the lights, colors and magic of the PBA Gala Night feting the league's 50 greatest Friday at Solaire North in Quezon City.

The Converge FiberXers and the Blackwater Bossing were there, witnessing a salute to members of their organizations - Danny Ildefonso and Willie Miller for Converge and Jeffrey Cariaso for Blackwater.

And each side now looks forward to feeding from the fire and fanfare of the Friday extravaganza and staying afloat as they slug it out in the 7:30 p.m. mainer Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Ildefonso and Miller will surely be inspirations to the FiberXers and so will be Cariaso to the Bossing, and they're likely to figure in a slam-bang game.

Justin Arana and his Converge teammates are out to steady the ship, having gone 1-2 in their first three outings while the Bossing will seek a turnaround from a conference debut blowout loss.

The FiberXers blew what had looked like a won game in a heart-rending 89-91 loss to the Meralco Bolts, rebounded with a 92-83 spilling of the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters then suffered a 71-83 defeat at the hands of the Magnolia Hotshots.

The Bossing, on the other hand, reeled to an 84-106 rout by the Hotshots in their lone game thus far.

Both sides know the importance of a strong start in the tourney, thus, their determination to get going as early as possible.

The target for everyone is a Top Four finish in the single-round-robin elims. The last four after the elims will miss the quarterfinals where the top four will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage versus their respective foes. (SB)
