Mike Philips was named Most Valuable Player of the 2024 PBA D League Aspirants Cup Thursday night.
Philips, who anchored EcoOil-La Salle to its third straight Finals appearance, became the second Green Archer to win the prestigious individual award after teammate Kevin Quiambao, who won the award last year.
The 6-foot-8 Filipino-American bruiser stepped up big time in the absence of Quiambao by tallying double-double averages of 12.3 points and 11.6 rebounds, including four offensive boards per game.
He also tallied 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 47.3 percent from the field to help the Green Archers stay perfect in seven games.
Moreover, the Florida, USA standout notched a league second-best average efficiency of +16.1 in eight games, next only to teammate Joshua David with a +21.3.
